The Windows Administrator is responsible for the design, operation, security, and optimization of Windows-based infrastructure across on-premises and AWS EC2 environments. The role exists to ensure highly available, secure, and cost-effective Windows systems that support business-critical workloads in a hybrid cloud model.
RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES
- Administer, configure, and support Windows Server environments across on-prem and AWS EC2, including OS deployment, patching, performance tuning, and lifecycle management.
-Provide hands-on operational support for AWS EC2 Windows workloads, including instance provisioning, AMI creation and maintenance, right-sizing, cost optimization, and availability design.
-Manage Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, and identity integration across hybrid environments, ensuring secure authentication and authorization.
-Monitor system health, availability, and performance across Windows and AWS EC2 platforms; troubleshoot incidents, perform root cause analysis, and implement permanent fixes.
-Implement and maintain security hardening, patching standards, vulnerability remediation, and compliance controls for Windows systems in AWS and on-prem.
-Develop and maintain technical documentation, standards, automation scripts, and operational runbooks.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Required
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent professional experience
5+ years of experience as a Windows or Systems Administrator
3+ years of hands-on AWS EC2 support experience for Windows-based workloads
Strong expertise with Windows Server 2016/2019/2022
Deep experience with Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, and DHCP in hybrid environments
Preferred
Experience supporting production workloads in AWS at scale
AWS certifications (AWS Sys Ops Administrator – Associate or higher)
Microsoft certifications related to Windows Server or cloud platforms
Experience with Power Shell automation and infrastructure-as-code concepts
· Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code (Ia C)(Terraform, Ansible, Cloud Formation)
· Experience with scripting/automation in Bash, Python, or Power Shell
Physical Abilities / Demands
Ability to support after-hours maintenance windows and possible on-call rotations
Ability to work extended periods at a computer and respond to incidents as required
KNOWLEDGE & COMPETENCIES
-Ability to make operational and technical decisions related to system configuration, migration readiness, troubleshooting, and cloud resource optimization
-Capable to plan and execute work independently, coordinate with network, cloud, application, and security teams, and escalates risks appropriately, providing technical guidance to peers or project teams.
-Must be able to troubleshoot both routine operational issues and complex migration-related problems involving OS behavior, cloud infrastructure, and application dependencies. Requiring disciplined troubleshooting, adaptability, and a bias toward automation and long-term operational improvement rather than one-off fixes.
