Payroll Specialist
The role oversees collecting, analyzing and processing all information necessary for an accurate and timely payroll for Mexico based employees. Payrolls include frequencies for the specific country the payroll is being processed for. Prepares and/or analyzes periodic payroll reports, payroll schedules and payroll related journal entries using established policies, procedures and guidelines. This position will also be involved in continuous improvement and best practice initiatives.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Manage workflow to ensure all payroll transactions are processed accurately and timely
Reconcile payroll prior to transmission and validate confirmed reports
Full understanding of payroll tax regulations for the specific country
Load import files received
Manage garnishment process (Alimony)
Validate time and attendance processing and interface with payroll
Develop adhoc reports as needed
Evaluate and implement appropriate payroll policies and controls and payroll processing and system enhancements to increase efficiency and streamline processes
Assists staff with general questions related to payroll
Maintain payroll internal controls; ensuring proper procedures, policies and rules are applied to payroll activities
Research complex payroll issues for proper treatment
Validate and assist with accurate and timely monthly/yearend processing, reporting and reconciliations when necessary.
Process/transmit files to third party vendors
Assist with accounting reconciliations as requested by Finance
Additional projects as assigned
Qualification Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, HR, Finance or equivalent experience.
Working knowledge of payroll best practices
Strong work ethic and team player
Ability to deal sensitively with confidential material
Strong interpersonal (verbal and written) communication skills, Spanish & English preferred.
Ability to communicate with various levels of management
High attention to detail with demonstrated planning and organizational skills
Decision making, problem solving and analytical skills
Ability to work in a dynamic business environment and meet changing business needs and priorities
TOTVS RM and Workday experience preferred but not required.
Proficient in Excel and familiar with other Microsoft Office software
